Tax-Exempt & Charitable Contributions
Tax-Exempt & Charitable Contribution Disclosure EmpowHER Purpose EmpowHER Purpose is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization recognized as exempt under §501(c)(3) and classified as a public charity under §509(a)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions made to EmpowHER Purpose are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by applicable federal and state law. Charitable Donations Donations made to EmpowHER Purpose support our charitable mission and programs dedicated to empowering, mentoring, educating, and developing young ladies ages 12–18. Unless otherwise designated and accepted by EmpowHER Purpose for a specific charitable purpose, donations may be used where they are most needed to support the organization's programs, services, operations, and mission. EmpowHER Purpose does not provide individual tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice. Donors should consult a qualified tax professional regarding the deductibility of a particular contribution based on their individual circumstances. Sponsorship Contributions Sponsorship contributions help EmpowHER Purpose provide mentoring, educational programming, leadership development, community engagement, supplies, activities, and other services benefiting our mentees and programs. Sponsoring a mentee or program does not create a direct legal relationship between the sponsor and an individual mentee and does not provide the sponsor with access to a mentee's confidential or personally identifiable information. If a sponsor receives goods, services, advertising, promotional benefits, event admission, or other items of value in exchange for a payment, the tax-deductible portion of that payment may be limited to the amount exceeding the fair market value of the goods or services received. EmpowHER Purpose will provide appropriate acknowledgment of qualifying contributions when required or appropriate. Enrollment Fees and Other Payments Payments made for enrollment fees, merchandise, event admission, goods, services, or other benefits are not necessarily charitable contributions merely because they are paid to a tax-exempt nonprofit organization. The deductibility of any such payment depends upon applicable tax law and the nature and value of any goods or services received in exchange. Donor Acknowledgments EmpowHER Purpose may provide donors with written acknowledgments or receipts for qualifying charitable contributions. Donors are responsible for maintaining appropriate documentation and determining the tax treatment of their contributions in consultation with their tax professional. No Goods or Services Statement When applicable, donation acknowledgments issued by EmpowHER Purpose may state: No goods or services were provided in exchange for this contribution. If goods or services were provided, EmpowHER Purpose may instead provide a good-faith description and applicable value of those goods or services as required by law.
